David Walters
David Walters, a retired architect, author, urban designer and university professor, is a collage artist specializing in pictorial paper collages on primed, painted, and “distressed” 2-D and 3-D wooden surfaces. The work often features copyright-free images from the erotic nightlife of Paris in the 1920s integrated into contemporary urban and rural images from the artist’s home area of Devon, England, and sketchbook studies from his times at artist residencies in Umbria, Italy. The juxtaposition of images from separated and diverse contexts is a means of creating a variety of new and different meanings in the work.
